Higher education institutions
The number of Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) in Malaysia continues to grow, providing a steady stream of human capital for both the country and the ASEAN region. Malaysia has over 400 private colleges offering diploma and bachelor’s programs, with numerous institutions and private universities encouraging advanced studies at the master’s and doctoral levels.
The number of university graduates in Malaysia increased by 4.4% from 5.13 million in 2019 to 5.34 million in 2020. The economic value of PHEIs in Malaysia was RM 31.5 billion in 2018 and is expected to grow to RM 65 billion by 2026.
