Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T)

To ensure a sufficient supply of various talents needed for economic development and to address the issue of talent loss in Malaysia in recent years, the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office established the Malaysia Talent Corporation (Talent Corp.) in early 2011. This organization is specifically responsible for assisting foreign talents in obtaining long-term work and residence in Malaysia, while also attracting Malaysian talents abroad to return.

The Residence Pass – Talent (RP-T) is a 10-year multiple-entry visa that does not require an employer. It is designed for outstanding foreign talents related to the National Key Economic Areas (NKEA).

The advantages of a talent resident visa

Unlimited entry and exit between your home country and Malaysia
Ability to work in Malaysia without changing the visa when changing employers
Ability to run a business as an independent legal entity
Can bring spouse, children, and both parents
Parents can apply for a 1-year Long-Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP), which can be renewed
Children under 18 can attend public, private, and international schools without a student visa
Self-funded medical care/option to purchase Malaysian insurance and medical cards
Allowed to purchase property according to Malaysian state regulations
Up to 80% mortgage available (subject to individual conditions)
Ability to open a bank account in Malaysia
Eligibility to apply for Malaysian Permanent Residence (Red Card) after 5 years

Application Condition

The RP-T is only granted to outstanding foreign nationals who currently live and work in Malaysia and meet the following criteria:

Have held a valid Employment Pass (EP) and lived in Malaysia for at least 3 years
At the time of application, your Employment Pass must have at least three months of validity remaining
Is a “high achiever” professional who can contribute to the development of Malaysia’s economy
Have at least 5 years of work experience
Have a monthly salary of at least RM 15,000 (excluding bonuses and allowances)
Hold a degree from a recognized educational institution
Have paid income tax in Malaysia for at least 2 years
Have a Malaysian income tax file number

Copies of the latest 2 years’ tax returns and EA forms
Copies of the most recent 3 months’ payslips
“No Objection Certificate” issued by the current employer (must be in Bahasa Melayu)
Copy of local contact’s ID (MYKAD) – front and back
Witness
Other supporting documents, such as recommendations from regulatory bodies

Dependents (if any) – Spouse, children, or legally adopted children under 18 years old

Certified copy of marriage certificate/birth certificate with endorsement from the Malaysian embassy (CTC)*

Visitor Pass (SVP) Holders (if any) – Parents, legal guardians, legal spouses, children over 18 years old
